On a neurophysiological level, each time we practice having a beneficial experience, were pulling engagement away from our brains trauma response centre and bringing engagement to other areas of our brain, specifically to our prefrontal cortex, where we can integrate the new experience and neuroplastic change occurs

What people say

I have attended 2 of Vicky and Gabi's Wisdom of the Body sessions and have been nourished and enriched by them both. The sessions are predominantly experiential and somatic, with teachings and wisdom from the world of polyvagal theory and how to work with trauma interwoven into the trainers' rich understanding and experience of Hakomi and Mindfulness. I have come away from both sessions feeling more empowered and confident to offer some of what I have learned and experienced to therapy clients and can feel the benefit of expanding my understanding of my own responses and reactions to the trauma I carry in my own body.

Trauma Deeper

February 20th

We share the different states of our nervous system when trauma is present and essential understanding and practices for trauma healing.

Self compassion

March 6th

Essential practices to connect with ourselves with compassion.

We hear such harsh inner voices from the people we work with as therapists, but perhaps you find you also have similar tough, internal voices. This self-talk usually has a theme of unworthiness. Learning how to speak to ourselves kindly and with self-compassion is essential.

Loving Presence

March 20th

We are made for connection – In this fundamental practice of Hakomi we refine our ways of being present with each other.

How our Autonomic Nervous System shapes our experience

Ever wondered why certain situations leave you feeling stuck, anxious, or drained—no matter how much you “talk it through”?

Join us for this practical and gently empowering introduction to the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and its role in everyday life. You’ll learn how your nervous system responds to stress, safety, and connection—and how to work with it rather than against it.

There is a quiet light that shines in every heart.

It draws no attention to itself, though it is always secretly there.

It is what illuminates our minds to see beauty, our desire to seek possibility, and our hearts to love life.

Resourcing ourselves

In this training, we focus on what is a resource, what nourishes us, what give us inspiration, rest, safety.

In Trauma Healing this is one of the first practices that support us as a base where we can go to when we need to.

We are resting simply because it is our divine right to do so. Treating each other and ourselves with care isn't a luxury, but an absolute necessity if we are going to thrive. Resting isn't an afterthought, but a basic part of being human. We must believe we are worthy of rest - Tricia Hersey

And Still I Rise

This session focuses on the systemic dimension of trauma. We have been conditioned to think about trauma as an individual tragedy instead of events that are interconnected to larger systems of domination that shape our world. We also contemplate the notion of transformation through turmoil.

"Post traumatic growth means you’ve been broken – but you’ve put yourself back together"

Trauma Basic

An introduction to trauma, how it shows up in our lives and how it can be healed.

Trauma affects our body, mind, and spirit. Our nervous system influences how we perceive and respond to situations in daily life. If not attended to, unprocessed trauma can chronically affect the whole of us. With advances in the understanding of trauma, healing is possible. In this training, we want to focus on three questions:

The ability to offer the safe sanctuary of presence is central to treating trauma - Bonnie Badenoch
