Hear, from one of our travel companions, tell us about their experience:
Thinking of exploring this amazing part of our world and don't know where to start? Then, I thoroughly recommend Vicky's Ayurvedic Experience and Tour of South India.

This is a region and culture I didn't know. I felt safe with Vickys knowledge and choice of guides to help us make the most of exploring. From the awe of golden temples, smell of spice gardens, dancing and truly immersing ourselves in the local, traditions. Highlights for me were being greeted with a garland of jasmine flowers as we stepped aboard the houseboat, then taking a smaller boat down the side rivers taking in the birds and tranquility of picturesque scenery.... I felt some beautiful, precious moments of stillness.

At the nature reserve, I could have watched the cheeky monkeys playing freely around the pool all day.... However, there were opportunities for extra trips, I paid a for a night trek.... Cover up in dark colors and although there is no guarantee..... Shhhhhh.... We saw elephants doing their elephanty thing, totally wild and free.

In the second week, I took part in the Ayurvedic training. Which covered some of the fundamentals of this ancient healing method along with practical oilation skills and daily treatments. Dr Anand is worth having for a tutor for his skillful story telling as he acts out traditional tales.

We stayed at the Amara, as some of their first guests, so staff were eager to please and swimming in their salt pool, swinging in hammocks surrounded by ripe jackfruit and coconuts, just divine. I recommend getting up for the 90 minutes yoga in the morning! Not only did I see the sun rise, by the end of the 7 days, I shocked myself with personal achievement.

I felt I could talk with others in the group about some of the sadder sides of this culture without being dismissed. This was of benefit to me to view other perspectives.
